GAS Member Monday

Hey look at this! I am this weeks Member Monday Artist on the Glass Art Society website. I am proud to be chosen to share my work with the glass community, and the world. If you have a moment please give the lil' interview a read too! You can find it here. And as always, here are three of my current musical muses. I'm packing up to go work for the month at Lofoten Glass with my beautiful friend from years ago, so you'll be seeing some hotshop and nature porn up here soon too.

With Love,

I'm just not ready

One week left and I am just not ready to go home yet. I've been having an incredible time in Iceland, full of new friends and new experiences. I'm going to spend the next few precious days enjoying it to the fullest, so here are a quick few images of my adventures so far (insert Iceland porn).

Oh, and did I mention: I had a show of only drawings! Who would have thought? More photos to come soon!

Just a taste

I won't bore you with too much writing, but I will post a few photos to whet your curiosity. My first week in Iceland has been wonderful so far, complete with some aurora borealis sightings! What more could a girl ask for? I don't  have any photos of that, but I do have other beautiful tableaux including some in progress shots of my recent crystal casting that will be part of a piece for the museum later this year. I hope you enjoy!

It’s official…. We’re moving to Lisbon!

2014 has been full of excitement and adventure so far and I am super excited to say that the best is yet to come! I have been accepted into the Masters Degree Program in Glass Art and Science through the Research Unit VICARTE at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universidade de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal. This Masters program highlights the crossover between glass and science within a historical and contemporary context with a focus on glass restoration and conservation in conjunction with a conceptual fine arts program. I am incredibly excited for this opportunity both on an artistic and educational level, but even more so for the new adventures and personal growth opportunities.

The semester starts in October, so I plan on arriving in Portugal at the end of September…………… only four weeks away!!!!! I will be selling/ donating absolutely everything I own and starting fresh which is a very exciting thought. If any glassy or artsy friends are looking for materials, I am parting with my whole studio so get at me! I will post some photos as well as I go.

I’ve never been to Portugal so I thought I would post a couple of photos of Neil Martin Horvath and I on our last great adventure in Iceland.  I am a little sad that I won’t be able to participate in the Listhus residency again next year, however I am sure come February or March I will be singing a different tune…… while on the beach :)

Wish us luck and please let me know if you have any Portuguese tips or secrets. Neil and I are both excited to start this new chapter in our lives!
